Steel Rebar Fence
description

Walking around Malabo, in the Caracola neighbourhood, we saw many fences on plots of land as beautiful as these. They were built by the old metal craftsmen of the city, using their blacksmith's tables with a lot of templates to bend the steel rounds into an infinite number of shapes. To this filigree they would attach a coloured sheet or plastic backing to give it depth. Nowadays, according to one of these blacksmiths, such fences are no longer made. Metal prices have risen so much that people can no longer afford them.
